Constructing an international airport on one of the most remote islands in the world requires dedication, exceptional expertise and an outstanding workforce.

Basil Read currently has a core in-house workforce of 25 Basil Read employees on site at St Helena, however the majority of employees for this contract will be recruited from St Helena and is expected to peak at around 250 people.

Following the construction phase of the airport, St Helena has earmarked tourism as one of the key attractions and has initiated programmes and developments including accommodation facilities and infrastructure upgrades, which will provide additional employment opportunities for the local population.
